No Coming, No Going

marai naahee sad sad hee jeevai.
I shall not die; I shall live forever and ever.
amar bha-i-aa abhinaasee theevai.
I have become immortal; I am eternal and imperishable.
naa ko aavai naa ko jaavai gur door kee-aa bharmeejaa hay. ||14||
I do not come, and I do not go. The Guru has driven out my doubts. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I will not die; I will live on and on, forever.

I have become deathless, never fading. I do not come, and I do not go — the Guru has driven my doubt away.

When the Guru clears your doubt, the coming and going stops.
The deeper layer

marai naahee sad sad hee jeevai — the deathless steadiness of the soul rooted in the One, free of fear and restlessness. gur door kee-aa bharmeejaa — the Guru drives out doubt, and the coming-and-going stops.

A Question to Sit With
