The Help That Comes When No One Else Can

jithai a-ughat aa-ay banat hai paraanee.
Wherever the mortal is confronted with difficulty,
tithai har Dhi-aa-ee-ai saaringpaanee.
there he should meditate on the Lord of the Universe.
jithai putar kalatar na baylee ko-ee tithai har aap chhadaa-idaa. ||11||
Where there are no children, spouse or friends, there the Lord Himself comes to the rescue. ||11||

In plain words

Wherever a hard time comes, remember the One who holds the whole world.

Where there is no child, no husband or wife, no friend, the One comes and sets you free.

Where no one else can help, the One comes to the rescue.
The deeper layer

Jithai a-ughat aa-ay banat hai — wherever the steep, difficult place comes, there remember saaringpaanee, the sustainer of all. The comfort is direct: jithai putar kalatar na baylee ko-ee — where no child, spouse, or friend can help, tithai har aap chhadaa-idaa, the One comes to the rescue. You are never finally alone.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt helped in a moment you thought you were completely on your own?
