Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 134
Verse 10 of 16

The One No One Can Command

roorho thaakur kitai vas na aavai.
The Beauteous Lord and Master is not controlled in any way.
har so kichh karay je har ki-aa santaa bhaavai.
The Lord does that which pleases the Saints of the Lord.
keetaa lorhan so-ee karaa-in dar fayr na ko-ee paa-idaa. ||10||
He does whatever they wish to be done; nothing blocks their way at His Door. ||10||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The beautiful Master cannot be controlled by anyone.

The One does whatever pleases the One's saints.

Whatever they wish, the One does. Nothing blocks their way at the One's door.

No one can control the One, yet the One does what pleases the saints.
The deeper layer

Roorho thaakur kitai vas na aavai — the beauteous One is not controlled by anything. Yet har so kichh karay je har ki-aa santaa bhaavai — the One does what pleases the saints. There is no contradiction: the saint's will has merged with the One's, so their asking is the One's own love asking. Then dar fayr na ko-ee — nothing turns them away at the door.

A Question to Sit With

What do you wish for most, and is it a wish made of love?
