Hearing Brings the Mind to Life

jaa kee so-ay sunee man jeevai.
Hearing of Him, the mind comes to life.
ridai vasai taa thandhaa theevai.
When He dwells within the heart, one becomes peaceful and cool.
Chanting the Guru's Name with the mouth, one obtains glory, and does not have to walk on the Path of Death. ||11||

In plain words

Just hearing about the One brings my mind back to life.

When the One settles in my heart, a cool calm spreads through me.

When my mouth speaks the Guru's words, I am honoured, and I do not have to walk the path of death.

Hearing of the One brings the mind to life.
The deeper layer

Hearing of the One revives the mind (Suniai, deep listening); when the One dwells in the heart, one becomes cool and calm. Speaking the Guru's words brings sobhaa, honour, and the jam kai panth, the path of death, is not one's road. Listening and speaking both give life.

A Question to Sit With
