Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 139
Verse 2 of 16

Not Anxious at All

tumeh pathaa-ay taa jag meh aa-ay.
When You sent me, I came into the world.
jo tuDh bhaanaa say karam kamaa-ay.
Whatever is pleasing to Your Will, I do.
tujh tay baahar kichhoo na ho-aa taa bhee naahee kichh kaarhaa. ||2||
Without You, nothing is done, so I am not anxious at all. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When You sent me out, I arrived in the world.

Whatever pleases You, that is what I do.

Since nothing at all happens outside of You, there is nothing left for me to be anxious about.

When you trust the current, you stop clutching the sides of the boat.
The deeper layer

Hukam here is 'the flow of existence': aligning with it dissolves worry. 'Taa bhee naahee kichh kaarhaa' (so there is nothing to fret over) is the gift, the same non-anxiety that comes from trusting the current rather than fighting it.

A Question to Sit With

What is a worry you could set down if you trusted the bigger picture?
