Melted Only by Love

patit paavan dukh bhai bhanjan.
The Purifier of sinners, the Destroyer of pain and fear.
ahaNkaar nivaaran hai bhav khandan.
The Eliminator of egotism, the Eradicator of coming and going.
bhagtee tokhit deen kirpaalaa gunay na kit hee hai bhigaa. ||13||
He is pleased with devotional worship, and merciful to the meek; He cannot be appeased by any other qualities. ||13||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One who makes the fallen clean again, who breaks apart pain and fear, who dissolves the pride that puffs us up.

Gentle with the humble, glad when a heart simply loves.

This One is won over by love, and by love alone.

The divine is reached by loving, not by impressing.
The deeper layer

Love is what pleases the One.

Ahankaar nivaaran means the one who dissolves pride, like a knot gently loosened. Bhagtee tokhit: the One is pleased by loving devotion. Gunay na kit hee hai bhigaa: no list of skills or achievements can win the One over. Grace answers love.

A Question to Sit With

Is it easier to love someone who shows off, or someone who is real?
