All that is seen is an illusion.
ik maaga-o daan gobid sant raynaa.
I beg for this one gift, for the dust of the feet of the Saints, O Lord of the Universe.
mastak laa-ay param pad paava-o jis paraapat so paavaigaa. ||18||
Applying it to my forehead, I obtain the supreme status; he alone obtains it, unto whom You give it. ||18||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
So much of what my eyes chase turns out to be passing, like morning mist.
So I ask for just one thing: the dust from the path of the saints, to touch to my forehead as the most precious blessing.
Whoever is meant to receive this receives it.
The one thing worth asking for is to learn humbly from the saints.
Everything the eyes chase passes; the humble dust of the saints' path lasts.
Daristimaan hai sagal mithaynaa means all that is seen is passing. Sant raynaa, the dust of the saints' feet, is the humble posture of learning from holy people. Param pad, the highest state, is received as a gift.
