To be a Muslim is to have a soft, kind heart,
and to wash the dirt from deep inside the heart.
The pleasures of the world do not even come near that one, who stays pure like flowers, silk, ghee and deerskin.
The heart of faith is a soft, kind heart.
The crown of the hymn: 'musalmaan mom dil hovai', to be Muslim is to be tender-hearted, with a heart soft as wax. The flowers/silk/ghee imagery is dignity that the world cannot pollute, echoing the same motif in Tilang.
A Question to Sit With
What is one way you could be a little more tender-hearted today?
