ਜਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਹਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
jaa ka-o mihar mihar miharvaanaa.
One who is blessed with the mercy and compassion of the Merciful Lord,
ਸੋਈ ਮਰਦੁ ਮਰਦੁ ਮਰਦਾਨਾ ॥
so-ee marad marad mardaanaa.
is the manliest man among men.
ਸੋਈ ਸੇਖੁ ਮਸਾਇਕੁ ਹਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਬੰਦਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਜਰਿ ਨਰਾ ॥੧੪॥
so-ee saykh masaa-ik haajee so bandaa jis najar naraa. ||14||
He alone is a Shaykh, a preacher, a Haji, and he alone is God's slave, who is blessed with God's Grace. ||14||

Whoever is touched by the mercy of the Merciful One
is the bravest of the brave.
That one alone is a shaykh, a preacher and a haji, and a servant of the One, blessed with the One's kind gaze.
Mercy from the Merciful One is what makes a person great.
Mercy makes a person great. 'Marad mardaanaa' means the bravest of the brave, and the titles shaykh, haji and servant of the One come from grace.
