When you come to know your own self, a hidden treasure opens: the Naam.
By grace the Guru folds you into the Word, and its pure sweetness pours into you.
Once you have tasted that, other flavors lose their pull, and a long thirst is finally quenched.
Knowing yourself is not a small thing; it is where the greatest treasure is buried.
The fifth Pauree (||5||). Self-realization (knowing one's own self) is the doorway to the treasure of the Name. The Bani (the Guru's Word) is 'immaculate and pure'; tasting its sublime essence satisfies a hunger that nothing else could reach, so that lesser cravings fall away naturally.
