O Nanak, that bride who stands before Him, is the most noble and respected woman. ||1||

In plain words

When the heart wears the Name like its finest jewelry, the Beloved is delighted.

Nanak says: such a heart stands honored, the way a kind person is respected everywhere.

Its beauty is inner, and that inner beauty is the most noble of all.

The finest thing you can wear is the Name held in the heart.
The deeper layer

A shalok of the Third Mehl. The heart that adorns itself with the Name, rather than with outward show, is the most honored. Nobility here is entirely inward.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of beauty do you most admire in a person?
