First Mehl:
jin kee-aa tin daykhi-aa aapay jaanai so-ay.
He who created the creation, watches over it; He Himself knows.
kis no kahee-ai naankaa jaa ghar vartai sabh ko-ay. ||2||
Unto whom should I speak, O Nanak, when everything is contained within the home of the heart? ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One who made all this watches over it, and the One alone knows.
Nanak says: to whom would I complain, when everything already lives within the home of the heart?
There is nowhere the One is not, and nothing the One does not hold.
Everything is held inside one heart-home; there is no outside to complain to.
A shalok of the First Mehl. Since 'everything is contained within the home of the heart', there is no outside audience to complain to; the One is both the keeper of creation and the whole within which it rests. Grievance turns into trust.
A Question to Sit With
Where do you take your worries, and how does it feel to know they are already held?
