ratay rang paarbarahm kai man tan at gulaal.
Those who are imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God, their minds and bodies are colored deep crimson.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਆਲੂਦਿਆ ਜਿਤੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਖਿਆਲੁ ॥੩॥
naanak vin naavai aaloodi-aa jitee hor khi-aal. ||3||
O Nanak, without the Name, other thoughts are polluted and corrupt. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Those soaked in love for the One glow through and through, like cloth dyed deep crimson.
Nanak says, without the Naam in mind, other thoughts leave the heart cloudy.
Love that soaks all the way through does not wash out.
Deep crimson (gulaal) is the color of a love that will not wash out. Without the Naam, other thoughts crowd in and leave the heart cloudy and unsettled — clarity on one side, clutter on the other.
