ਮਃ ੫ ॥

kaparh bhog vikaar ay habhay hee chhaar.
Enjoyment of clothes and corrupt pleasures - all these are nothing more than dust.
ਖਾਕੁ ਲੋੁੜੇਦਾ ਤੰਨਿ ਖੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ॥੨॥
khaak lorhaydaa tann khay jo ratay deedaar. ||2||
I long for the dust of the feet of those who are imbued with the Lord's Vision. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Fancy clothes and empty thrills — in the end they are just dust.

What I long for is to sit humbly with those whose eyes are full of the One.

Time near people full of the One is worth more than any luxury.
The deeper layer

A Dakhanay shalok. 'The dust of the feet' of those filled with the One means the lowest, most humble nearness to holy people. Outer luxuries fade; that nearness lasts.

A Question to Sit With

Who makes you a better person just by being around them?
