Verse 2 of 5

One Mind, One Love, Steadily

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
mayray man gurmukh naam har Dhi-aa-ay.
O my mind, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹਾ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadaa har charnee laag rahaa ik man aikai bhaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Remain attached forever to the Lord's Feet, single-mindedly, with love for the One Lord. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind, through the Guru, meditate on the Naam.

Stay at the feet of the One forever, with one mind and one love.

A gathered, single-hearted mind is steadier than a scattered one.
The deeper layer

Ik man aikai bhaa-ay, single-mindedly, with love for the One, is the antidote to a scattered heart. To live gurmukh is to keep attention gathered around the Name rather than splintered among endless pulls. Focus itself becomes a kind of love.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you gather your scattered attention back to one thing?
