The Restless Chase After More

ih man laalach kardaa firai laalach laagaa jaa-ay.
This mind wanders around, driven by greed, totally attached to greed.
DhanDhai koorh vi-aapi-aa jam pur chotaa khaa-ay. ||3||
He is engrossed in false pursuits; he shall endure beatings in the City of Death. ||3||

In plain words

Left to itself, my mind can wander off, always chasing a little more.

Running after things that do not last leaves it tired and unsettled.

Noticing the chase is how I gently call the mind back home.

Chasing more tires the heart; noticing the chase calls it home.
The deeper layer

Greed (laalach) sends the mind wandering after koorh, what is false and does not last. Caught up in that busywork, it takes hard knocks and grows weary. The cure is awareness that calls the mind back, as the rahao urged.

A Question to Sit With

When does the I-want-more feeling send your mind wandering?
