How Doubt and Pride Can Cloud the View

Some do not appreciate the value of devotional worship; the self-willed manmukhs are deluded by doubt.
They are fillled with self-conceit; they cannot accomplish anything. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sometimes a heart has not yet felt how good loving devotion can be.

Doubt and a puffed-up self can cloud the view, like fog over a window.

But fog lifts, and the same heart can clear and see again.

Doubt and pride are fog on the window; fog can always lift.
The deeper layer

The manmukh, the self-willed one, has not yet tasted the worth of devotion (bhagtee saar) and wanders lost in doubt (bharam). Doubt and pride cloud the view the way fog clouds a window. Fog can lift, and no heart is written off.

A Question to Sit With

What helps clear the fog when doubt clouds your view of things?
