Maaroo, Third Mehl:

He transforms the burning desert into a cool oasis; he transmutes rusted iron into gold.

so saachaa salaahee-ai tis jayvad avar na ko-ay. ||1||
So praise the True Lord; there is none other as great as He is. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One can turn a scorching desert into a cool, green oasis.

The One can turn rusted, worn-out iron into shining gold.

No power is greater, and no change is beyond it, so I praise the True One with a full heart.

Nothing is beyond renewal; even a desert can become an oasis.
The deeper layer

Two great images of transformation: maaroo tay seetal (burning waste to cool oasis) and manoorahu kanchan (slag to gold). Both carry the same hope: nothing is beyond renewal, no wasteland or ruin is final. In the raag named for the desert, the very first image is the desert blooming.

A Question to Sit With

What is something dried up or rusted that you hope could bloom again?
