The Dear Lord, becoming merciful, has blended servant Nanak with Himself. ||4||1||3||

In plain words

You are my shelter; please gather me to Yourself.

Pour Your kindness, Life of the world, and keep me in the Guru's care. Nanak says: when the One is gentle with me, I am blended into Him.

Come to the door as you are; you will be gathered in.
The deeper layer

I come to Your door; please take me in.

Too parabh ham sarnaagatee — God, I come to You for shelter. Sarnaagatee means coming for shelter. The One is jagjeevanaa, the Life of the world. The seeker asks for kindness, and for the Guru's care.

Har jee-o aap da-i-aal ho-ay — the dear One becomes kind and joins Nanak with Himself. Think of a drop of water falling into a river. It does not stay separate. It becomes part of the flow.

A Question to Sit With

What is one worry you could set down at the door today?
