Continually and forever, speak the sermon of the Lord, Har, Har; as Gurmukh, speak the Unspoken Speech. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

O my mind, the story of the One is the story my mind loves.

Tell it every day, always. Facing the Guru, speak the story words cannot hold.

The best things are almost too big for words - and still worth speaking.
The deeper layer

The story of the One is the story the mind loves most.

This is the "pause" line, the rahao, at the center of the shabad. Man mayray mai har har kathaa man bhaanee — O my mind, the story of the One is what my mind loves. The verse says to tell it nit sadaa, every day and always.

Akath kahaanee means the story that cannot be told. That sounds strange. How do you tell a story that cannot be told? Think of trying to describe the taste of a mango to someone who has never had one. Your words point at it, but they never hold all of it. The story of the One is like that. We keep telling it anyway, because we love it.

A Question to Sit With

What is something wonderful that is hard to put into words?
