Keep the One in Mind, and Your Good Stays Bright

ਚਿਤ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਕੀ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਵਰਿਆ ॥

Why do you not keep Him in your consciousness, you mad man?

Forgetting the Lord, your own virtues shall rot away. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

O my crazy mind, why don't you keep the One in your thoughts?

When you forget the One, your good qualities waste away.

What you remember, you keep alive; what you forget quietly fades.
The deeper layer

Attention is what keeps our best qualities alive. Simran, keeping the One in mind, is not a chore but the practice that keeps kindness, patience, and courage from fading through neglect.

A Question to Sit With

What is a good quality in you that grows when you pay attention to it?
