In plain words

When the ocean-of-kindness One gave His grace, honor came in the Sangat.

Nanak says, the fog of the three moods lifted, once the One became my help and support.

When grace comes, the fog that confused you simply lifts.
The deeper layer

When grace comes, the fog lifts, and we find our place in the Sangat.

Guru Arjan calls the One kirpaa nidh, a treasure house of kindness. When that kindness flows, honor comes in satsang, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Then bharam, the fog of confusion, clears away. That fog is made of the trai gun, the three moods that pull us around: dull and heavy, busy and restless, calm and bright.

Think of a foggy morning on the walk to school. You cannot see the road. Then the sun comes out, and everything is clear. Guru Arjan signs the verse with the name Nanak, as all the Gurus did. He says this happens once the One becomes our helper.

A Question to Sit With

What helps the fog lift when your mind feels confused?
