Turning Back Before More Time Slips By

ਹਉ ਦੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਖਰੀ ਰੰਞਾਣੀ ॥
ha-o dohaagan kharee ranjaanee.
I am a dejected, discarded bride, totally miserable.
ਗਇਆ ਸੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਧਨ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
ga-i-aa so joban Dhan pachhutaanee. ||2||
I have lost my youth; I regret and repent. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Some days I feel I have let precious time drift past without turning toward what matters.

A little ache of I wish I had started sooner rises up in me.

But that very ache is a doorway, and I can turn toward the One right now.

The wish that you had started sooner is itself a way of starting now.
The deeper layer

Dohaagan, the bride left alone, grieves the youth that slipped away. Under the grief is the honest wish to have turned sooner, which is itself a turning. Regret becomes an open door rather than a wound.

A Question to Sit With

Is there something you would like to begin today rather than wait?
