Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O my mind, fall in love with the Naam.

Keep the One, the treasure, in your thoughts. This is the purest way to live.

Falling in love with the Naam is the cleanest way to live.
The deeper layer

Fall in love with the Naam, and keep the treasure in mind.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line at the centre of the shabad. Mayray man naam si-o kar pareet — my mind, love the Naam. Pareet is the warm love you feel for a best friend or a favourite song.

Chayt man meh har har nidhaanaa — think of the One, the treasure, inside your mind. Nidhaanaa means a treasure store. Ayh nirmal reet — this is the clean, pure way to live. Think of a clear stream. Nothing muddy settles in water that keeps moving with love.

A Question to Sit With

What would it mean to fall in love with something good?
