Meditate, vibrate on the Lord of the Universe, and all your desires shall be fulfilled; O Nanak, you shall never be defeated. ||2||4||27||

In plain words

Your life and breath already belong to the One; so gently set down the puffed-up "me."

Keep the One close, and every wish of your heart is met. Nanak says: you will never lose.

Set down the puffed-up "me," and you can never lose.
The deeper layer

Everything you are already belongs to the One, so you can let go of the puffed-up "me."

Jee-o man tan praan means soul, mind, body and breath. All of it is the One's. Aapan aap nivaar means set down your self-importance. Keep the One close, and your truest wishes are met. Then comes a promise: kabahu na haar, you will never lose.

Raag Maaroo was often sung before battles. But the battle truly worth winning is the one inside. Think of a team that stops showing off and starts passing the ball. That team wins together.

A Question to Sit With

When has letting go of pride helped you win?
