There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.
With my hands cupped open like a bowl, I bring You this prayer.
Coming together and drifting apart are both part of Your great design; You shaped this body from earth and water and air, and at Your word, life came and settled inside it.
Hands cupped in prayer: every coming together and every parting is part of the One's plan.
Anjulee means hands cupped together, like a bowl held out. The whole song is spoken in that open, asking way.
Sanjog vijog dharahu hee hoo-aa: meeting and parting both come from the One. Panch dhaat kar putlaa kee-aa: the body was made from the five elements, like a doll shaped from earth, water, fire, air and sky. Then, at the King's word, life came and entered the body.
Think of friends who move away, and new friends who arrive. Both belong to the same big design. The body is a small wonder made from the stuff of the world, with life placed inside it.
If you cupped your hands and made one prayer, what would it be?
