In plain words

The kind One reaches out and sets us free, the One who made and holds every living thing.

Nanak says: whoever spends this precious life well — winning the quiet battle inside — has their whole journey here blessed, and their going home welcomed.

A life spent well makes even the journey home a welcome.
The deeper layer

The kind One sets us free. A life lived well is welcomed home.

Miharvaan rakh la-i-an aapay: the kind One saves us Himself. Every living thing was made and set in place by that same One.

Janam padaarath means this precious human life, like a treasure placed in our hands. Jin chali-aa: those who leave having won. The win is the quiet battle inside, against pride and greed and anger. For them, aa-i-aa so parvaan thi-aa: their coming into the world is accepted.

Think of finishing a long school year you worked hard at. You walk out the door proud, and home is waiting. In Maaroo, death is shown as going home, never as something to dread.

A Question to Sit With

What would it mean to spend this day well?
