manmukh ka-o aalas ghano faathay ojaarhee.
The self-willed manmukh is very lazy; he is trapped in the wilderness.
faathaa chugai nit chogrhee lag banDh vigaarhee.
He is drawn to the bait, and continually pecking at it, he is trapped; his link to the Lord is ruined.
gur parsaadee mukat ho-ay saachay nij taarhee. ||6||
By Guru's Grace, one is liberated, absorbed in the primal trance of Truth. ||6||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
It is easy to drift, pecking at little bait again and again, and end up feeling stuck and far from home.
But by the Guru's grace I am freed in a moment, and then I settle, calm and absorbed, in the deep quiet of what is true.
Grace can free you from the trap in a single moment.
The wandering self caught pecking at the chogrhee, the bait, in the wilderness is gently drawn. Gur parsaadee mukat ho-ay, liberation by grace, which is always available. Saache nij taarhee: absorbed in the primal quiet of Truth.
A Question to Sit With
What is a small bait that is easy to keep pecking at?
