The Treasure Hidden Inside Everyone

laalaa so jeevat marai mar vichahu aap gavaa-ay.
He alone is the Lord's slave, who remains dead while yet alive, and eradicates egotism from within.
banDhan tooteh mukat ho-ay tarisnaa agan bujhaa-ay.
His bonds are broken, the fire of his desire is quenched, and he is liberated.
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within all, but how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, obtain it. ||5||

In plain words

When the grasping me quietly melts away, even while I am fully alive, something loosens: the tight knots let go and the restless burning cools.

And here is the wonder: the treasure of the Name is already inside every single person. Turning toward the Guru, I get to discover it.

The treasure is already inside everyone, waiting to be uncovered.
The deeper layer

Jeevat marai, dying while alive, means the ego dissolved; bandhan tooteh, trisnaa agan bujhaae, bonds broken and desire cooled. Sabh meh naam nidhaan hai: the Naam-treasure is within all beings, and the gurmukh uncovers it. The divine is universally within.

A Question to Sit With

What might change if you believed something precious was hidden in everyone?
