There Is No Healer Like the Guru

satgur baajhahu vaid na ko-ee.
Other than the True Guru, there is no physician.
aapay aap niranjan so-ee.
He Himself is the Immaculate Lord.
satgur mili-ai marai mandaa hovai gi-aan beechaaree jee-o. ||4||
Meeting with the True Guru, evil is conquered, and spiritual wisdom is contemplated. ||4||

In plain words

When the heart is sore, there is no healer like the Guru.

Meet the Guru, and the fever of ego cools; clear, wise seeing grows in its place.

For a sore heart, the Guru is the healer.
The deeper layer

The healing thread returns in full: satgur baajhahu vaid na ko-ee — other than the Guru, there is no physician (vaid). The One is niranjan, pure and untouched. Meeting the Guru, marai mandaa — what is unwell in us subsides — and gi-aan beechaaree, wise reflection, grows. Ego is treated as a fever that cools, a sickness healed, not a crime.

A Question to Sit With

When something inside you feels off, what helps it settle and heal?
