Verse 5 of 9

Steady, Unbreakable, Always Giving Peace

ਅਟਲ ਅਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਤੁਝੁ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੪॥
atal akhand paraan sukh-daa-ee ik nimakh nahee tujh gaa-i-o. ||4||
He is immovable, indestructible, the Giver of peace to the soul; and yet you do not sing His Praises, even for an instant. ||4||

In plain words

The One is steady and unbreakable, always pouring peace into the soul.

How lovely, even for a single moment, to turn and sing that steadiness a quiet thank-you.

The One is steady and unbreakable — worth a moment's grateful turn.
The deeper layer

The One is steady and gives peace, yet we forget to say thank you.

Atal akhand means immovable and unbreakable. Praan sukh-daa-ee means the giver of peace to our very breath. The verse gently points out that we have not sung the One's praise ik nimakh, even for a single blink.

So the invitation is warm. Even one moment of grateful turning is a good thing. Think of a friend who is always there for you. One quick message saying "thanks" means a lot.

A Question to Sit With

When has pausing to say thank you, even briefly, changed how a moment felt?
