Verse 3 of 9

When Love Moves In, Division Moves Out

ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਾਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਮਿਟਾਵਨਾ ॥੨॥
sant kirpaa tay hirdai vaasai doojaa bhaa-o mitaavanaa. ||2||
By the Grace of the Saint, the Lord dwells within the heart, and the love of duality is eradicated. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When love moves into the heart, the feeling of me-against-everyone quietly fades.

What is left is closeness, not division.

When love moves in, division moves out.
The deeper layer

When love moves in, the feeling of being split apart moves out.

Sant kirpaa: "by the kindness of a holy person." Through that kindness, the One comes to live in the heart.

Then doojaa bhaa-o, the love of "two," is wiped away. It is the feeling of separation: us and them, me against the world.

Think of two teams at recess who argue every day. Then a friendly teacher mixes everyone into one big game. Soon nobody remembers who was on which side.

When the One is felt inside, the split melts. That is the heart of the teaching of oneness.

A Question to Sit With

When do you feel most connected to others instead of apart?
