ਭਗਤ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਖ ਤਜਾਵਨਾ ॥੩॥
bhagat da-i-aa tay buDh pargaasai durmat dookh tajaavanaa. ||3||
By the kindness of the devotee, the intellect is enlightened, and pain and evil-mindedness are eradicated. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Through the kindness of those who love the One, the mind grows clear and bright,

and the old aches and tangled thoughts come undone.

A clear mind lets old aches come undone.
The deeper layer

The kindness of those who love the One helps the mind grow clear.

Bhagat da-i-aa: "by the kindness of a devotee." A devotee is someone who loves the One with their whole heart. Their kindness makes the mind pargaas, full of light.

Think of walking into a dark room and flipping on the switch. The mess you kept tripping over is suddenly easy to see and easy to tidy.

Durmat means tangled, unkind thinking. Along with the aches it brings, it comes undone. Confusion and heaviness let go.

A Question to Sit With

Who helps you think clearly when your mind feels tangled?
