Verse 6 of 9

Every Treasure Comes With Your Nearness

ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੋ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਨਾ ॥੫॥
na-o niDh riDh siDh paa-ee jo tumrai man bhaavnaa. ||5||
The nine treasures, wealth and miraculous spiritual powers are obtained, by one who is pleasing to Your mind. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Every treasure and every strength comes to the one whose heart delights the One.

You do not have to chase them; nearness brings them.

Nearness quietly holds every treasure worth having.
The deeper layer

Being close to the One brings everything worth having.

Na-o niDh means "the nine treasures." It is an old picture of having everything, full to the brim. RiDh and siDh mean riches and special powers.

All these come to the one who is dear to the One. But the point is not power. The point is closeness. Nearness to the One already holds every good thing.

Think of a kid who stays close to Grandma in the kitchen. They never ask for cookies. But when the cookies come out, they are right there.

You do not have to chase the treasures. Nearness brings them.

A Question to Sit With

What do you already have that is worth more than any prize?
