ਭੋਗਨਾ ਮਨ ਮਧੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਲੀਵਨਾ ॥੪॥
bhognaa man maDhay har ras santsangat meh leevnaa. ||4||
The real enjoyment within the mind is to be absorbed in the sublime essence of the Lord, in the Society of the Saints. ||4||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The joy worth having is the sweetness of the One, tasted inside the mind,
soaked up in the Sangat.
The deepest joy is one you share.
The best joy is tasting the sweetness of the One together in the Sangat.
Har ras means the sweet taste of the One. The verse says we soak it up in santsangat: the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. So enjoyment is shared, not kept to oneself.
Think of watching fireworks alone, and then watching them with your family. The same sky feels brighter when you share it.
A Question to Sit With
What joy feels even bigger when you share it?
