Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 83
Verse 13 of 16

How Could I Ever Praise You Enough?

ki-aa saalaahee agam apaarai.
How can I praise the inaccessible, infinite Lord?
saachay sirjanhaar muraarai.
The True Creator Lord is the Enemy of ego.
jis no nadar karay tis maylay mayl milai maylaa-ee hay. ||13||
He unites those whom He blesses with His Grace; uniting them in His Union, they are united. ||13||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

How could my small words ever praise someone so vast and beyond all reach?

You are the true Maker, the One before whom pride simply dissolves.

When Your kindness falls on me, You draw me close and make me one with You.

My praise will always be too small, and that is fine; grace does the rest.
The deeper layer

The name Muraari (usually understood as slayer of ego) is rendered as the One before whom pride dissolves. Praise is shown as necessarily incomplete, and union comes by grace (nadar), not by achievement.

A Question to Sit With

How do you show you love something that is too big for words?
