Verse 2 of 16

The One Who Gladly Forgives Those Who Love

jis kay chaakar tis kee sayvaa.
I am His servant; I serve Him.
sabad pateejai alakh abhayvaa.
He is unknowable and mysterious; He is pleased by the Shabad.
bhagtaa kaa gunkaaree kartaa bakhas la-ay vadi-aa-ee hay. ||2||
The Creator is the Benefactor of His devotees. He forgives them - such is His greatness. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I am here to serve the One I belong to.

You cannot be fully figured out, yet a true word delights You.

You are so good to those who love You, quick to forgive and quick to lift them up.

The One I serve is quick to forgive and quick to lift me up.
The deeper layer

The One is unknowable yet moved by a sincere word, and generous with forgiveness. The relationship is one of glad service, not fearful duty.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to be forgiven quickly by someone who loves you?
