For many ages, only darkness prevailed;

the infinite, endless Lord was absorbed in the primal void.

He sat alone and unaffected in absolute darkness; the world of conflict did not exist. ||1||

In plain words

Before there were stars or skies, before there was any world at all, there were long, long ages of deep quiet dark.

In that vast stillness the One rested, alone and undisturbed, resting in a peace beyond anything we can picture.

There was no rushing yet, no busy world of coming and going. Only the boundless One, endless in every direction.

Everything we know grew out of a vast, patient stillness.
The deeper layer

Before creation there were kaytay jug — countless ages of deep darkness (DhunDhookaar), with the One absorbed in its own quiet. It is a stillness full of awe, not emptiness — the silence out of which everything would one day come.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like when everything around you goes completely quiet and still?
