Verse 7 of 17

The One Hums Through Wind and Water

sarisat upaa-ay rahay parabh chhaajai.
Creating the Universe, God remains diffused throughout it.
pa-un paanee baisantar gaajai.
In the wind, water and fire, He vibrates and resounds.
manoo-aa dolai doot sangat mil so paa-ay jo kichh keenaa hay. ||7||
The mind wavers, keeping company with evil passions; one obtains the rewards of his own actions. ||7||

In plain words

Having made the whole universe, the One spreads all through it, filling every corner.

It hums and shimmers in the wind, in the water, in the warmth of fire.

Our mind wobbles when it keeps company with the restless pulls inside; what we plant in our actions is what we later gather — so plant gently.

The One hums through everything, and what you plant is what you gather.
The deeper layer

Sarisat upaa-ay rahay parabh chhaajai — having made creation, the One spreads all through it. The mind wobbles (manoo-aa dolai) when it keeps company with restless passions, and so paa-ay jo kichh keenaa — we gather what we plant.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small good thing you could plant today that might grow later?
