ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਸਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
satgur tuthaa sach drirh-aa-ay.
The True Guru, in His Mercy, implants Truth within.
ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
sabh dukh maytay maarag paa-ay.
All suffering is eradicated, and one is placed on the Path.
ਕੰਡਾ ਪਾਇ ਨ ਗਡਈ ਮੂਲੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
kandaa paa-ay na gad-ee moolay jis satgur raakhanhaaraa hay. ||11||
Not even a thorn ever pierces the foot of one who has the True Guru as his Protector. ||11||

Out of pure kindness, the True Guru plants Truth deep inside us.
Sorrow lifts, and our feet are set on a clear, good path.
When the True Guru is your protector, you walk so gently guarded that not even a thorn can prick your foot along the way.
With the Guru as your protector, not even a thorn can reach you.
With the True Guru as raakhanhaaraa, protector, not even a kandaa, a thorn, pierces the foot. Protection here is quiet and complete — the calm confidence of a sheltered heart.
