He cries out in pain, like the fish pierced by the hook. ||10||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

A heart that stays shut to the One can feel like a creature far from the water it needs.

It cries out like a fish caught on a hook, aching for home.

And the way back is never closed. Turn toward the One, even a little, and the aching begins to ease.

The ache of being far from home is home calling you back.
The deeper layer

Ji-o kundee meen paraataa — like a fish caught on a hook, the one far from the One cries out in pain. A heart away from its home aches, and the way back stays open.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel far from where you belong, what pulls you back?
