ਹੁਕਮਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਦਸ ਅਉਤਾਰਾ ॥
hukam upaa-ay das a-utaaraa.
By His Hukam, He created His ten incarnations,
ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਅਗਣਤ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
dayv daanav agnat apaaraa.
and the uncounted and infinite gods and devils.
ਮਾਨੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਝੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
maanai hukam so dargeh paijhai saach milaa-ay samaa-idaa. ||13||
Whoever obeys the Hukam of His Command, is robed with honor in the Court of the Lord; united with the Truth, He merges in the Lord. ||13||

By the flow of existence came the great heroes of the old stories, and countless bright and shadowy powers.
Whoever lives in step with that flow is welcomed with honor in the One's presence.
Meeting the truth, they blend into it completely.
Living in step with life's flow is what earns honor.
The 'ten incarnations' and the countless beings, 'dev' and 'daanav', bright and shadowy powers alike, all arise by the same flow. To live 'in step' with the flow (maanai hukam) is what brings honor.
