Ages Beyond Counting

hukmay jug chhateeh gudaaray.
By the Hukam of His Command, the thirty-six ages passed.
hukmay siDh saaDhik veechaaray.
By His Hukam, the Siddhas and seekers contemplate Him.
aap naath natheeN sabh jaa kee bakhsay mukat karaa-idaa. ||14||
The Lord Himself has brought all under His control. Whoever He forgives, is liberated. ||14||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By the flow of existence, ages upon ages have rolled by, more than anyone could count.

By it, the wise seekers turn their thoughts to the One.

Everything rests in the One's care, and whoever the One lifts up is set free.

Ages beyond counting have all unfolded within the One.
The deeper layer

'Jug chhateeh': the thirty-six ages, a classical way of saying time beyond counting. All of that vast time unfolds within the One, who holds and frees.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to imagine ages and ages unfolding within the One?
