Home in the Deepest Music

satgur tay paa-ay veechaaraa.
From the True Guru, contemplative meditation is obtained.
sunn samaaDh sachay ghar baaraa.
And then, one dwells with the True Lord in His celestial home, the Primal State of Absorption in Deepest Samaadhi.
naanak nirmal naad sabad Dhun sach raamai naam samaa-idaa. ||17||5||17||
O Nanak, the immaculate sound current of the Naad, and the Music of the Shabad resound; one merges into the True Name of the Lord. ||17||5||17||

In plain words

From the True Guru we learn to sit quietly and reflect.

Then we come to rest in the One's own home, the deep and peaceful stillness where we began.

Nanak says: there the pure inner music sounds on and on, and we melt gently into the True Naam.

The journey ends where it began, in the One's deep, peaceful stillness.
The deeper layer

'Sunn samaadh', the deep stillness of the opening, returns at the close, a full circle. The 'nirmal naad', the pure unstruck music, sounds, and the soul merges into the True Name (sach raamai naam).

A Question to Sit With

Where do you go to feel quiet and whole again?
