The world is a reflection of Him; He has no father or mother.

He has not acquired any sister or brother.

There is no creation or destruction for Him; He has no ancestry or social status. The Ageless Lord is pleasing to my mind. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The whole world is like a shadow the One casts, but the One has no father and no mother.
No sister, no brother, no family line, no rank, no caste.
Nothing made the One and nothing can wear it out. Ageless and free, it is the One my heart loves.
The One belongs to no family and no rank, which means it belongs to everyone.
Because the One has no lineage (kul) and no social rank (jaati), no human hierarchy can be traced back to it either. This is one of Gurbani's quiet equality notes: if the source of all belongs to no caste and no family, then no caste or family can claim to be nearer to it than another.
A Question to Sit With
What would change if you treated every person as equally close to the One?
