O Nanak, meditate on the Lord, and swim across the river; they find the Lord, their best friend, in the end. ||15||1||18||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Day and night the True One is honored on the throne of the heart.
This true greatness comes to those who love the Guru's wisdom and rest their attention there.
Nanak says: remember the One and swim the great waters gently across; the One is the friend who is still beside you at the very end.
The One is the friend who stays with you all the way home.
Har ant sakhaa-ee: the One is the friend who is present even at the end, a companion on the way home. The crossing of the waters is a gentle swim, carried by remembrance.
A Question to Sit With
Who or what feels like a friend that would stay beside you no matter what?
