This wealth cannot be stolen; the celestial melody of the Shabad wells up and keeps us awake and aware. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Gather in the true wealth of the One, dear friends walking beside me.

Stay close to the Guru and rest in that shelter.

This is a wealth no thief can ever take; the Word rises up like a bright song and keeps me awake and aware.

The one treasure no one can ever take from you is the One held in your heart.
The deeper layer

Har dhan is the wealth of the Name, and its great feature is that it cannot be stolen. Sarnaa-ee is shelter or sanctuary. The Word (sabad) welling up keeps a person awake and aware (jagaa-i-aa), so the treasure is also a kind of wakefulness.

A Question to Sit With

What is something valuable to you that can never be stolen?
