In plain words

Rare is the person who turns to the Guru and understands — the one the One looks on with grace.

There is no Giver but the Guru, who grants grace and forgives.

Meeting the Guru, peace and calm well up; so say the Naam day and night.

When understanding comes, peace wells up inside like a spring.
The deeper layer

Understanding is rare and comes as grace, and meeting the Guru makes peace well up like a spring.

Gurmukh koee virlaa boojhai: rare is the one who turns to the Guru and understands, and it comes by nadar, the glance of grace. Gur bin daataa koee naahee: there is no Giver but the Guru. Meeting the Guru, saant, peace, wells up like a spring, and the Naam stays close day and night.
