Meeting with the True Guru and the Primal Being, the Name is obtained, and one remains forever absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O my mind, meditate on the One's Naam, sweet as nectar.
Meeting the True Guru, the first and highest Being, you receive the Naam, and you stay held in the One's Naam forever.
The sweetest thing you can hold in your heart is the Naam.
Keep the sweet Naam in your mind; meeting the True Guru, you receive it and rest in it always.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Mayray man har amrit naam dhi-aa-ay: O my mind, meditate on the nectar-sweet Naam. Meeting the True Guru, the Naam is received, and one rests in it always (sadaa samaa-ay), like coming home to stay.
