A Bond That Never Breaks

avgan ti-aag bha-ee bairaagan asthir var sohaag haree.
Discarding her demerits, she becomes detached; with the Lord as her Husband, her marriage is eternal.
sog vijog tis kaday na vi-aapai har parabh apnee kirpaa karee. ||3||
She never suffers separation or sorrow; her Lord God showers her with His Grace. ||3||

In plain words

Letting go of her faults, she stops clinging. With the One as her Beloved, her bond lasts forever.

Sorrow and separation never touch her, because the One has been kind to her.

Some bonds cannot be broken, no matter what.
The deeper layer

Set down your faults, and your bond with the One holds steady through everything.

Avgan ti-aag: setting down faults, the things that weigh the heart. Then the soul becomes bairaagan, free of clinging, and the bond with the One is asthir, steady and lasting. Sog vijog, sorrow and separation, never take hold, because the One's kirpaa, kindness, holds her.

Think of a boat that drops the heavy bags it was dragging. It rides higher and steadier in the water.

A Question to Sit With

What is one bond in your life that feels like it will never break?
